Pirates farm report for May 9, 2024: Ji Hwan Bae knocks in 5 runs in Indianapolis win
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 17-16) outscored Louisville (Reds), 9-6. 2B Ji Hwan Bae (.362) went 2 for 5 with a three-run homer, his third, and five RBIs. DH Malcom Nunez (.262) went 2 for 5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. 3B Andres Alvarez (.174) went 2 for 4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. CF Billy McKinney (.256) went 2 for 2 with a walk and three runs scored. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.254) went 2 for 4 with a run scored, an RBI and his third stolen base. SS Liover Peguero (.292) went 0 for 5 with three strikeouts. C henry Davis (.111) went 0 for 3 and was hit by a pitch twice. LHP Geronimo Franzua (4.96) started and pitched three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and one walk with four strikeouts. LHP Brady Feigl (4-1, 3.38) gave up two runs on two hits in 2 2/3 innings but picked up the win. RHP Brent Honeywell (5.17) worked a perfect ninth for his third save.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 7-23) lost 7-4 to Somerset (Yankees). RHP Po-Yu Chen (5.19) started and allowed one run on five hits and a walk with three strikeouts in six innings. RHP Grant Ford (5.54) then allowed three runs on two hits and a walk without recording an out. RHP Valentin Linarez (0-2, 7.13) gave up three more runs on two hits and five walks in 1 2/3 innings. RHP Eddy Yean (3.78) finished it out with 1 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit. LF Dustin Peterson (.250) went 2 for 4 with a double and a run scored. SS Tsung-Che Cheng (.198) was 0 for 4 with an RBI and his fifth stolen base. RF Tres Gonzalez (.218) was 1 for 3 with an RBI.

GREENSBORO (High-A, 16-13) was swept by Bowling Green (Rays) in a doubleheader.
In the first game, a 6-3 Greensboro loss, RHP JP Massey (2-3, 5.73) started and was tagged for five runs, three earned, on three hits and two walks in four innings. He fanned four. The bottom three hitters in the Greensboro lineup went 6 for 8. The rest of the team went 1 for 19. CF PJ Hilson (.667) went 2 for 3 with a triple and a run scored. 3B Maikol Escotto (.360) went 2 for 2 with a run scored and an RBI. C Geovanny Planchart (.278) was 2 for 3 with a run scored. 2B Termarr Johnson (.174) went 0 for 3.
In the second game, an 8-7 setback for the Grasshoppers, RHP Wilber Dotel (6.55) started and was touched up for six runs on six hits, including two homers, in three innings. After LHP Luis Peralta threw two scoreless innings of relief, RHP Brandan Bidois (0-3, 5.73) allowed two runs on one hit, a home run, in an inning to take the loss. 1B Nick Cimillo (.367) went 2 for 4 with a double, his second home run, two runs scored and an RBI. LF Hudson Head (.239) went 1 for 4 with a pair of RBIs. 3B Charles McAdoo (.295) went 1 for 4 with two runs scored and an RBI.

BRADENTON (Low-A, 12-18) beat St. Lucie (Mets), 8-3. LF Esmerlyn Valdez (.271) went 1 for 4 with a three-run homer, his third. DH Solomon Maguire (.270) went 2 for 4 with his first homer. 2B Keiner Delgado (.231) went 2 for 5 with his second home run. C Omar Alfonzo (.247) was 2 for 3 with his second homer. RHP Carlson Reed (2-1, 1.75) started and went five innings, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks with seven strikeouts to earn the win.
