Pirates farm report for Sept. 12, 2023: Henry Davis collects 2 hits, Nick Gonzales homers in Indy loss

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 63-74) gave up five runs in the eighth inning and fell 10-6 to Omaha (Royals). RF Henry Davis (.364) went 2 for 4 with two singles, a walk and a run scored. 1B Matt Gorski (.421) was 2 for 4 with his first home run in Indy and an RBI double. 2B Nick Gonzales (.273) hit his 12th home run and a double to finish 2 for 5. LF Canaan Smith-Njigba (.259) was 2 for 5 with an RBI double and a single. RHP Travis MacGregor (1-2, 5.72) came on in the eighth and allowed five runs on four hits and walked two to take the loss. RHP Roansy Contreras (3.28) started and gave up two runs on two hits, walked three and fanned four in 4.2 innings. RHP Chase De Jong (4.68) went 1.1 innings and allowed two runs on two hits, walked one and struck out one. RHP Dauri Moreta (19.29) gave up a run on two hits and struck out two in an inning of relief.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 64-66) totaled just three hits but defeated Akron (Guardians), 3-2. DH Connor Scott (.196) went 1 for 4 with an RBI double. RF Chavez Young (.211) was 1 for 3 with a single. 3B Jackson Glenn (.279) finished 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. C Carter Bins (.213) scored on a throwing error in the first and drove in the game-winning run on a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning. RHP Justin Meis (4.63) of Bethel Park tossed three shutout innings, allowing two hits and one walk, fanning three. RHP Michell Miliano (3.26) gave up two runs on five hits, walked two and struck out three in 2.2 innings of work. LHP Geronimo Franzua (2-2, 7.45) threw 1.1 shutout innings, allowing one hit and striking out one for the win. RHP Cameron Junker (3.40) gave up one hit in two innings for his second save of the year.
