Pirates farm report for Sept. 15, 2022: Quinn Priester roughed up in Altoona

INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 70-67) hit three home runs but were blown out by Toledo (Tigers), 12-3. LF Tucupita Marcano (.348) hit a solo shot in the first inning, his second, 2B Josh Van Meter (.208) hit one in the second, his first, and RF Jared Oliva (.261) hit an inside-the-park homer in the third, his seventh. The pitching, although bookended by shutout innings from RHP Cody Bolton (3.14) and LHP Zach Matson (5.60), was throttled by Toledo. RHP Travis MacGregor (1-3, 7.55) allowed four runs and three walks in 1.1 innings, LHP Cam Alldred (3.69) gave up five runs, four earned, on six hits, two home runs and struck out two in 2.2 innings, and LHP Joe Jacques (4.15) threw 1.2 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out two. SS Ji-hwan Bae (.292) went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts and 1B Mason Martin (.214) went 1 for 4 with a hit.

ALTOONA (Double-A, 69-65) could only come up with six hits in a loss to Reading (Phillies), 9-0. SS Liover Peguero (.259), 2B Aaron Shackelford (.240), 3B Josh Bissonette (.152), CF Matt Frazier (.218), 1B Malcom Nunez (.284) and RF Lolo Sanchez (.231) each had a single as the Curve offense was stymied. Altoona’ s pitching was roughed up from the very beginning. Starter RHP Quinn Priester (4-4, 2.87) went 3.2 innings and gave up seven runs on eight hits while walking two, giving up a home run and striking out five. RHP Jeffery Passantino (3.76) went two innings and allowed two runs on four hits and walked one while striking out three. LHP Omar Cruz (5.11) was a bright spot, allowing no runs and no hits, walking one and striking out five.
