Pirates farm report for Sept. 21, 2022: Quinn Priester sparkles in Triple-A debut
INDIANAPOLIS (Triple-A, 73-70) used a strong showing from recent Altoona call-ups to beat St. Paul (Twins), 7-1. RHP Quinn Priester (1-0, 0.00) started and went five strong innings, allowing only two hits and two walks while striking out six to earn the win. RHP Colin Selby (0.00), another call-up, allowed no runs or hits in his one inning of work. 2B Endy Rodriguez (.714) continued to rake by going 3 for 4 with four RBIs — two on a double in the third and two more on a single in the sixth. LF Blake Sabol (.303) and 3B Malcom Nunez (.667) followed Rodriguez with back-to-back home runs, their fifth and first. The bullpen kept St. Paul relatively quiet the rest of the way with RHP Noe Toribio (6.59) going one inning and allowing two walks, while RHP Hunter Stratton (5.37) struck out three and gave up one hit in his only inning of work. LHP Joe Jacques (4.05) allowed the only run on a solo home run in the eighth and struck out two in an inning of work. SS Ji-hwan Bae (.289) went 0 for 1 with three walks and scored on Rodriguez’s double. DH Aaron Shackelford (.000), another call-up, went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts and two groundouts.
