Pirates front office members take part in Clemente Day of Service
Roberto Clemente’s legacy of service was celebrated Thursday throughout Major Leauge Baseball.
Members of the Pittsburgh Pirates front office staff volunteered with several service projects around the community, sponsored by Pirates Charities initiatives.
Many worked at a local ball field located within Olympia Park in Mt. Washington in support of youth baseball and softball.
In their effort to raise mental health awareness, Pirates staffers also helped paint a Clemente mural in the teen room at Boys & Girls Clubhouse in Lawrenceville.
At PNC Park, employees created boxes of cheer for pediatric cancer patients in partnership with Jared Box. Care packages will also be assembled for Friends of Fisher House for recovering veterans.
Coincide with the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Pirates gave back to Pittsburgh’s Latino Community Center, replenishing the center’s food pantry and providing toys and activities for the early childhood room.
