A Phillip Evans seventh-inning grand slam was one of seven homers hit by the Pittsburgh Pirates in a 19-13 victory against the Toronto Blue Jays in Grapefruit League play Friday.
A 27-year-old nonroster invitee with 34 games of major league experience, Evans homered and added a single among three at-bats during the victory in Dunedin, Fla.

Ke’Bryan Hayes, Colin Moran, Cole Tucker, Bligh Madris, Will Craig and Jared Oliva also homered for the Pirates, who scored more runs than they had in any spring-training game since 2014.
Making his spring debut, Chris Archer had four strikeouts and allowed one hit in two shutout innings. Williams Jerez, Edgar Santana and Blake Cederlind combined for 2 2/3 perfect innings.
Joe Musgrove allowed two of Toronto’s four home runs and was charged with seven runs on six hits while recording just two outs.

Evans, Craig, Oliva, Andrew Susac and Guillermo Heredia had two hits each for the Pirates, who improved to 3-11-1 this spring.
Chris Stratton, Robbie Erlin, Richard Rodriguez, Michael Feliz, Dovydas Neverauskas, Cody Ponce and James Marvel are scheduled to pitch for the Pirates at 1:05 p.m. Saturday against the New York Yankees at Bradenton’s LECOM Park.
