The Pittsburgh Pirates announced the promotion of a pair of prospects, outfielder Charles McAdoo and left-handed pitcher Jaden Woods, to Double-A Altoona Friday evening.

McAdoo, 22, is ranked as the Pirates’ No. 30 overall prospect, per MLB Pipeline.

In 60 games at High-A Greensboro, McAdoo was hitting .336 with nine homers and 52 RBIs.

Selected by the Pirates in the 13th round (No. 377 overall) of the 2023 MLB Draft, McAdoo played collegiately at San Jose State.

He is in his second professional season, having spent 2023 with the Bradenton Marauders, for whom he batted .302 in 28 games.

Like McAdoo, the 22-year-old Woods was also picked by the Pirates in last year’s draft (seventh round, No. 197 overall).

Woods’ minor-league career has mirrored McAdoo’s, as he spent 2023 with Bradenton before beginning this year with the Grasshoppers.

In 20 appearances for Greensboro this season, Woods went 1-0 with a 2.13 ERA, seeing action exclusively out of the bullpen.

He tossed 25 1/3 innings, striking out 31 with 11 walks and a 1.22 WHIP.
