Konnor Griffin has rocketed to the top of prospect rankings by dominating Class A in his first full season of professional baseball.

Now, the Pittsburgh Pirates are promoting the 19-year-old shortstop to Double-A Altoona, a source confirmed Sunday to TribLive.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Griffin, selected No. 9 overall in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft, is a five-tool talent who has risen to the No. 1 ranked prospect by both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline.

Griffin is batting .332/.414/.524 with 21 doubles, four triples, 16 home runs, 72 RBIs, 97 runs and 59 stolen bases in 101 games this season, split between Low-A Bradenton and High-A Greensboro.

At Bradenton, Griffin batted .338 with a .932 OPS, 10 doubles, two triples, nine homers, 36 RBIs, 49 runs and 26 stolen bases in 50 games for the Marauders.

That earned him a June 10 promotion to Greensboro, where Griffin either matched or, in some cases, improved his numbers. He hit .325 with a .942 OPS, 11 doubles, two triples, seven homers, 36 RBIs, 48 run and 33 stolen bases. Griffin also drew more walks and had fewer strikeouts at the higher level.

Griffin is expected to make his Curve debut against Reading at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Peoples Natural Gas Field in Altoona.
