The Pittsburgh Pirates announced their first cuts of spring training after Monday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays, sending three top-10 prospects to their minor league camp at Pirate City in Bradenton, Fla.

Right-handed pitchers Bubba Chandler and Thomas Harrington and left-hander Anthony Solometo, along with infielder Andres Alvarez, were reassigned to minor league camp.

Baseball America ranks Chandler the Pirates’ No. 2 prospect and No. 59 in its top 100. Solometo is ranked the Pirates’ No. 5 prospect and Harrington No. 7.

Left-hander Jackson Wolf was optioned to Double-A Altoona, where he finished last season after being acquired from the San Diego Padres in the trade for lefty Rich Hill and first baseman Ji-Man Choi.

There are now 64 players (59 active) remaining in big league camp.
