Cody Bolton was back in the Pittsburgh Pirates clubhouse Sunday, clean-shaven and ready to pitch in relief.

The right-hander was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis and added to the active roster for the series finale against the Chicago Cubs at PNC Park.

To make room for Bolton, the Pirates optioned right-hander Osvaldo Bido to Indianapolis. Bido allowed eight runs on five hits and five walks with one strikeout in 2 1/3 innings in Saturday’s 10-6 loss to the Cubs. The 27-year-old Bido was 2-5 with a 6.36 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in 14 appearances, including eight starts, for the Pirates this season.

Bolton, 25, is in his sixth stint in the majors this season, most recently serving as the 27th man for the Aug. 13 doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds. Bolton has allowed 11 earned runs in eight appearances with the Pirates, recording 10 strikeouts and 11 walks. He is 2-4 with a 4.01 ERA and one save in 31 appearances at Indianapolis.
