The Pittsburgh Pirates keep cycling through their suspensions relating to the brawl with the Cincinnati Reds late last month. With infielder/outfielder Jose Osuna eligible to return to the active roster in time for Tuesday’s home game against the Washington Nationals, reliever Kyle Crick will begin to serve his three-game suspension.

The hole in the bullpen will in part be filled by the return of righthander Richard Rodriguez from the injured list. Rodriguez had been placed on the IL on Aug. 12 because of what the team said was right shoulder inflammation.

Rodriguez allowed four runs on three hits in a third of an inning in his most recent appearance Aug. 9. However, he had been scored upon only once in the 25 2/3 innings over 27 games he appeared in prior to that,

Also Tuesday, righty Montana DuRapau was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis a day after he threw 48 pitches over two innings of a 13-0 loss to the Washington Nationals.

The Pirates have lost 28 of 35 since the All-Star break.
