The Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday signed the sixth member of their 2024 MLB draft class: third-round pick Josh Hartle, a left-handed pitcher out of Wake Forest.

The 6-foot-5, 210-pound Hartle, 21, is the club’s highest-drafted player to sign thus far, joining righties Matt Ager and Gavin Adams, left-hander Connor Wietgrefe, shortstop Duce Gourson and catcher Derek Berg.

Per MLB Pipeline, Hartle was ranked as the No. 70 prospect in the draft.

As a junior, he went 6-3 with a 5.79 ERA in 74 2/3 innings, striking out 81.

His sophomore campaign in 2023 saw him earn first-team All-American honors from Baseball America and the National Baseball Writers Association behind an 11-2 record and 2.81 ERA. He also was named first-team All-ACC.

Hartle was assigned to the Florida Complex League in Bradenton.
