The Pittsburgh Pirates will start the season on national television, as their Opening Day matinee at the New York Mets will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock.

The 1 p.m. game is expected to involve a showdown between 2025 National League Cy Young Award winner Paul Skenes of the Pirates facing four-time All-Star slugger Juan Soto and the Mets.

Major League Baseball announced Friday that NBC will air 20 games over the 2026 season, including two showcase games on Opening Day. That is the only game the Pirates are scheduled to play on NBC/Peacock.

The prime-time game will feature reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers raising their banner, as they are scheduled to play host to the Arizona Diamondbacks at 8 p.m. on NBC and Peacock.
