Pittsburgh Pirates fans might be in for a soggy opening weekend at PNC Park.

There’s a chance of rain throughout the weekend, with a flood watch is in effect until 7 a.m. Sunday, said Colton Milcarek, meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Moon.

It looks like the home opener Friday afternoon may be dry. The Pirates take on the New York Yankees at 4:12 p.m.

As for the rest of the weekend, the weather won’t be great for outdoor activities, Milcarek said.

“We’re going to have a few rounds of rain this weekend,” he said.

Precipitation is expected to resume around 7 p.m. Friday in Pittsburgh and, after that, it will linger through Sunday morning. Fans should expect on and off rain showers Saturday, with game time scheduled to start at 4:05 p.m.

There could be some dry breaks Sunday, but precipitation, potentially including snow, will resume later Sunday. The game Sunday is set to start at 1:35 p.m.

About 2 inches of rain could fall through the weekend, Milcarek said. Parts of the region have already seen 1 to 1.5 inches of rain between late Thursday and early Friday.
