Coach Pat Narduzzi continued his quest to add athletes to his roster when special teams ace Josh McCarty announced on his X account that he is transferring from Eastern Michigan to Pitt.

McCarty (5-foot-11, 203 pounds) is listed on the Eastern Michigan 2023 roster as a defensive back, but he was more impactful on special teams.

During the 2022 season, he recorded 12 special teams tackles to lead the Mid-American Conference and tie for third in the nation. He also was named an All-MAC honorable mention specialist by College Football Network.

In 2023, he had 13 special teams tackles to tie for the FBS lead.

McCarty has been at Eastern Michigan since 2019 and will have one season of eligibility remaining.

Pitt has added 14 players from the NCAA transfer portal since the end of last season.
