C’Bo Flemister rushed for 471 yards and 10 touchdowns on 110 carries in four seasons at Notre Dame.

Operating under the assumption that a team never can have too many running backs, Pitt added another player to that position group when C’Bo Flemister, a transfer from Notre Dame, committed to the Panthers.

Flemister announced his commitment Sunday morning.

At 5-foot-11 1/4, 201 pounds, Flemister was the Irish’s leading rusher in their 45-3 victory against Pitt in 2020, recording 48 yards and a touchdown. Overall, in four seasons at Notre Dame, he rushed for 471 yards and 10 touchdowns on 110 carries, including 127 against South Florida in 2020.

He missed most of the 2021 season after he was injured and suspended.

Flemister, a native of Williamson, Ga., will join incumbent Pitt running backs Izzy Abanikanda, Vincent Davis, Rodney Hammond Jr. and Daniel Carter. Abanikanda, Davis and Hammond combined to rush for 1,748 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. Carter was named by coaches as the most improved offensive player in spring drills.

Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi has added nine scholarship transfer players to the roster this season, including Flemister’s former Notre Dame teammate Shayne Simon, a linebacker. Flemister has two years of eligibility.
