Pitt added to its frontcourt depth by signing the fifth member of its 2019 recruiting class in graduate transfer Eric Hamilton, a power forward who has played at Wichita State and UNC Greensboro.

The 6-foot-9, 250-pound Hamilton averaged 6.1 points and 4.4 rebounds in 16.3 minutes a game last season at UNC Greensboro, which went 27-7 to win the Southern Conference and qualify for the NCAA tourney. He averaged 2.2 points and 1.5 rebounds in 47 games at Wichita State. Hamilton played on three conference championship teams and made three NCAA Tournament appearances.

“Eric is an experienced post player with a winning mentality,” Pitt coach Jeff Capel said in a statement. “We like his athleticism and believe he has the tools to be an impact player in our program. He has shown the instincts, strength and effort level to be a high-volume rebounder.”

Hamilton joins a Pitt class that features wings Justin Champagnie and Gerald Drumgoole, shooting guard Ryan Murphy and power forward Karim Coulibaly.
