The Pitt football team could be without one of it’s top “Sharks” next season, as linebacker Rasheem Biles plans to enter the transfer portal, he posted to his Instagram account.
Biles (6-1, 220) made 101 tackles this season, including 17 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks. He also returned two interceptions for touchdowns and earned second-team All-ACC honors.
In Saturday’s loss to East Carolina in the Military Bowl, Biles had a strip sack where he returned the fumble 23 yards for a touchdown.
His 75-yard interception return for a touchdown against Louisville was the second-longest pick-six by a Pitt linebacker in the last three decades.
He has one season of eligibility remaining. Despite entering the portal, Biles could choose to return to Pitt.
Over the past three seasons as a Panther, he had 185 tackles, including 31.5 for a loss and 10 sacks. He also had three interception returns for a touchdown, 13 passes defensed, three forced fumbles and three blocked kicks. He was a third-team All-ACC honoree in 2024.
Pitt’s linebackers corps, also known as the “Sharks,” will also miss Kyle Louis, who declared for the NFL Draft. Linebackers coach Ryan Manalac also is leaving to become UConn’s defensive coordinator.
According to On3Sports, Pitt starting center Lyndon Cooper (6-2, 315) also plans to enter the transfer portal.
The transfer portal opens Friday.
