With his three top assistants returning to Pitt for a fourth consecutive season, coach Jeff Capel on Friday announced that Milan Brown has been promoted to associate head coach.

Brown has more than 25 years of coaching experience, including 12 seasons as a head coach at Holy Cross (2010-15) and Mount St. Mary’s (2003-10).

Brown has worked primarily with the Pitt guards since he was hired by Capel prior to the 2018-19 season. Jamarius Burton, who previously played at Wichita State and Texas Tech, will join holdover guards Ithiel Horton, Nike Sibande and Femi Odukale this season.

“Milan has done a terrific job in all aspects with our program,” Capel said in a statement. “Not only is he an outstanding coach and recruiter, but he does a great job mentoring our players off the court. I have been and continue to be impressed with his commitment to bettering our program, our student-athletes and the university.”

Brown will continue to work alongside associate head coach Tim O’Toole and assistant coach Jason Capel.
