Barnes (6-foot-6, 180 pounds) has a close connection to Pitt. He is a junior at Brush High School in Lyndhurst, Ohio, and played one season there with Pitt sophomore center John Hugley.
Barnes, who projects as a wing player at Pitt, is rated the nation’s 79th overall prospect in the class of ‘23 by Rivals.com. He also has offers from Cleveland State and Miami.
Brush is 9-2 this season after Barnes returned to the school. He played his sophomore season at Ypsi (Mich.) Prep
