The Diaz Graham twins are going home — and taking their Pitt teammates with them.
Pitt’s basketball team is crossing the Atlantic Ocean this summer for a 10-day trip to Spain, including Tenerife in the Canary Islands, the home of Guillermo and Jorge Diaz Graham. The team departs Aug. 5 and returns Aug. 14.
The trip begins with four days in the Canary Islands before the Panthers visit Barcelona, Spain.
“We are excited about the opportunity to take our team to Spain this summer,” coach Jeff Capel said in a statement. “This will be a great bonding opportunity for our program in one of the most beautiful parts of the world. I was fortunate enough to spend time in Barcelona and the Canary Islands with USA Basketball at the 2014 FIBA World Cup and am really looking forward to being there with our Pitt program.”
While in Tenerife, the team will take a private cruise, tour the city and compete in an exhibition game. In Barcelona, the itinerary will include visits to the 1992 Olympic sites, Montjuic Hill and FC Barcelona Stadium. The team will play their second exhibition game of the trip in Barcelona before heading to the seaside town of Sitges.
