Philadelphia Eagles’ Cal Adomitis (57) runs during the second half of an NFL football game against the New York Giants, Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, in East Rutherford, N.J.

Newly signed Philadelphia Eagles long snapper Cal Adomitis donned the green and white Oct. 5 and ran out of the tunnel for the first time in front of nearly 70,000 fans in a packed Lincoln Financial Field.

The Cincinnati Bengals had parted with Adomitis in August, but he wasn’t deterred. The Central Catholic and Pitt Alum racked up multiple workouts, impressing each NFL team, and signed with the Eagles a few months later.

Adomitis always heard how loud the fans can be in Philadelphia. He’s been in a lot of energized fanbases including the Dallas Cowboys, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Kansas City Chiefs. The Eagles matched the best he’s played in front of, and he fed off it, ready for his first moment with the new team.

“They’re rowdy,” Adomitis said. “I’ve only had one home game, but that place was rocking for the entirety of that game. I’m sure I’ll get a little more exposure to the Philly faithful the longer I’m here, but as of so far, man, you can just definitely tell it’s a very passionate fan base and a fan base that expects to win. That’s a good thing. We’re hoping that as we get rolling here, we can start winning some more games and really get things cranked up for the rest of the season.”

It’s been a busy fall for Adomitis, moving from Cincinnati back to Pittsburgh, taking workouts from other NFL teams and finding a home in Philly.

“It’s been kind of a whirlwind,” Adomitis said. “I’ve only been here for about two weeks, but the entire time I’ve been here, I’ve been pedal to the metal. I’m really liking the specialist room and the special teams coordinator. It’s a fun group of guys and a really well run organization, so it’s been about as smooth as you can ask for in terms of turning over a new leaf and starting somewhere new.”

Adomitis started his long snapper career as a junior at Central Catholic as an extra way to get on the field. He became a preferred walk-on at Pitt and earned his way to a scholarship. He became an ACC champion, a first-team All-American and the Patrick Manelly award winner as best long-snapper in 2021.

His time in Pittsburgh motivated him to keep excelling at long snapper, and that launched him to the pro level. Fast forward to 2025, and he is working with the best of the best in holder Braden Mann and former Pro Bowl kicker Jake Elliott.

“Braden is an elite holder,” Adomitis said. “He makes my job easy, and I hope to try to do my best to make his job easy too, but it’s definitely good knowing I got a guy like Braden, as skilled as he is, back there, catching snaps. Jake makes everything so there’s a level of confidence that you just know that it’s going to go through if we do our job.”

Adomitis said he likes special teams coordinators Michael Clay and Tyler Brown.

“They’re both two younger guys who just have a lot of energy,” Adomitis said. “They are definitely football guys through and through, so it’s been fun.”

One of those fun experiences was them telling stories of winning the Super Bowl and how much excitement the city carried. The Super Bowl talks motivated him.

“Talking about that just sounded so awesome,” Adomitis said. “I want to experience that. I want to get that chance. It was uplifting and then also motivating to want to really come to work hearing some of these stories about just how awesome winning a Super Bowl is.”

He said joining a team with a rich winning culture and two Super Bowl wins in the past 10 years is a motivator.

“It’s easy to just fully buy into what they’re doing here,” he said. “When you see that they’re coming off a Super Bowl win and see that they have a lot of the same players in place that they did last year, it just really makes it that much easier.”

He said that during his time as a free agent, he was never down on himself and always believed he would find a roster. He said signing with a team gave him reassurance and added more confidence to an already confident player.

He’s earned scholarships, awards and conference titles in college, as well as a contract and a starting role with the Bengals for three seasons.

Adomitis and the Eagles special teams unit has been perfect since he came on board.

“The process of the past couple months has given me a heightened sense of gratitude for each week that I get to step on the field and just give me extra reason to really be present and enjoy every snap I get,” Adomitis said. “It’s been a ton of fun the past two weeks, and hopefully it lasts a lot longer here in Philly.”

His brother Graham, and his father, Andy, were big proponents of Cal long snapping in high school. He said the rest of his family loves that he’s in-state and on an NFL squad.

“They’re pumped,” Adomitis said. “It’s great too, just being in Pennsylvania. It’s a place where they can drive and visit and come see a number of the home games. Everyone’s been pumped, and it’s just been a blessing to have them.”

Adomitis said if one were to tell him in high school he’d be signed by the reigning Super Bowl champions, he wouldn’t have been shocked. He believes the work ethic he has can launch him to where he needs to go.

“There is a part of me that would just be surprised … but then at the same time too, just in believing in myself through the years, there definitely would be a part of me that would say, ‘Good. I know I can do that,’ ” Adomitis said. “I would obviously be grateful and excited to hear that, but I also think I wouldn’t be totally shocked.”
