The number of departing players from the Pitt football roster climbed to 12 on Monday, the first day the NCAA transfer portal officially opened.

The two most recent players to announce their intentions to leave are reserve defensive linemen David Ojiegbe and Thomas Aden.

Ojiegbe, a redshirt freshman, will be seeking his third school in as many seasons after he transferred to Pitt 11 months ago from Clemson. He appeared in 10 games this season, with five tackles, including a sack.

Aden, who joined the team as a walk-on in 2022, appeared in three games — all this season — while recording half of a tackle for a loss.

Previously, five players who made significant contributions at some point in their Pitt careers revealed plans to leave. They are quarterback Nate Yarnell, defensive tackle Nahki Johnson, center Terrence Moore, running back Rodney Hammond and wide receiver Daejon Reynolds.
