Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi didn’t wait long to start reconstructing his roster, landing offensive lineman Marcus Minor on Thursday as a graduate transfer from Maryland.

Minor, who has two years of eligibility, reported his verbal commitment on Twitter.

Minor, 6-foot-4, 310 pounds, has played right tackle and right guard at Maryland. He played guard this season, but he was the Terrapins starting right tackle for 10 games in 2019. He also started one game in 2017 and three in 2018.

Plus, his biography on the Maryland website reports he was host of a radio show on WBGR Sports Network called ‘Cuttin’ Up With Marcus.’

Pitt has several connections to Minor, including offensive line coach Dave Borbely, a former Maryland assistant.

Minor, who lives in Hyattsville, Md., will be the third DeMatha Catholic graduate on Pitt’s roster, joining defensive end John Morgan and defensive back Judson Tallandier.

It’s the second time in four months Pitt has dipped into the Maryland roster for a transfer. Former Terrapins wide receiver D.J. Turner transferred to Pitt in August.

Minor was a highly regarded four-star prospect in 2017 when he received scholarship offers from Auburn, Florida, North Carolina, West Virginia, Wake Forest, Duke, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Pitt. He was the No. 6 overall prospect in Maryland and the 29th-rated offensive tackle in the nation in 2016, according to Rivals.com.

Pitt has holes to fill on the offensive line after losing guard Bryce Hargrove and center Jimmy Morrissey.

Yet several linemen who gained experience last season are expected to return at guard and tackle, including Carter Warren, Carson Van Lynn, Jake Kradel, Blake Zubovic, Matt Goncalves and Gabe Huoy. Owen Drexel may be the initial replacement for Morrissey.
