Pitt football coaches landed their first commitment for 2026 from quarterback Angelo Renda, a junior at Southlake Carroll High School in Texas.

Renda announced his decision Wednesday on social media.

The 6-foot, 180-pound passer also held an ACC offer from SMU along with Jacksonville State and UT San Antonio, according to Rivals. Renda was rated as a three-star prospect by 247Sports and was unranked by Rivals.

In the fall, Renda passed for 3,901 yards and 40 touchdowns while leading Southlake Carroll to a 15-1 record. The Dallas-Fort Worth area school finished as the state runner-up in Texas’ largest classification. He completed 71.4% of his passes (257 of 360) while also rushing for 667 yards and 14 touchdowns on 95 carries.

Renda on Tuesday thanked Pitt offensive coordinator Kade Bell and special teams coordinator/tight ends coach Jacob Bronowski for visiting with him. He received an offer from Pitt on Jan. 3.

One of Randa’s top receive targets, sophomore wideout Blake Gunter (6-2, 181), announced a Pitt offer Tuesday. Gunter had 48 catches for 759 yards and eight touchdowns last season.

Southlake Carroll’s leading receiver, junior Brock Boyd, committed to TCU.
