Pitt incoming freshman guard Femi Odukale broke his arm and suffered other injuries recently when his scooter collided with a car, a Pitt Athletics spokesman said. The injuries are not life-threatening, and Odukale’s arm was repaired surgically.

Odukale will miss practice time, but he may be available before the end of the 2020-21 season.

Odukale, a Brooklyn, N.Y., native, averaged 17.5 points and 8.8 assists and shot 52% from the field last season for Springfield (Mass.) Commonwealth Academy.

Odukale, a 6-foot-5 guard, was expected to be a top reserve behind Xavier Johnson and Ithiel Horton, who likely will replace Trey McGowens in Pitt’s backcourt. McGowens transferred to Nebraska.

The Panthers also added freshman William Jeffress and Nike Sibande, a transfer from Miami (Ohio), to their backcourt. Horton is eligible this season after transferring from Delaware.
