Pitt-Greensburg names Latrobe resident Zadecky as new athletic director
With more than a decade of administrative and coaching experience at several college stops, Lou Zadecky brings athletics acumen to his new position.
Zadecky, a Latrobe resident, is the new athletic director at Pitt-Greensburg, the university announced. He replaces Jeromy Yetter, who left to become the commissioner of the AMCC after guiding UPG athletics since 2018.
Zadecky was the AD at Carlow for the last five years and was named the USCAA Garth Pleasant Athletic Director of the Year. Carlow also received the AMCC Institutional Peak Performer Champion award.
UPG and Carlow are Division III AMCC members.
“Lou is from Western Pennsylvania and has worked in the region for his entire career,” UPG president Robert Gregerson said in a news release. “His deep knowledge of our area will be a great benefit to our coaches and athletes.”
Zadecky also served as AD at Penn State Fayette from 2014-21 and has coached at various levels. He was the Penn State Greater Allegheny women’s basketball coach for four years and was the PSUAC Coach of the Year.
He serves on the USCAA compliance and eligibility committee, and the USCAA Division I women’s volleyball and basketball selection committees.
“There is a history of success in Bobcat athletics, and I look forward to being able to build on and continue that legacy,” Zadecky said. “The mission of the Pitt-Greensburg athletic department closely aligns with my own personal mission. I am looking forward to building community relationships and helping to integrate the department into the campus and local community.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to come to Pitt-Greensburg as I have called the Greensburg/Westmoreland County area home for over 20 years. This position gives me the opportunity to be close to home and allows my family to be a part of this next chapter in my life.”
