Penn-Trafford graduate and Pitt-Greensburg men’s tennis player Turner Price competes during the 2019 season.

Pitt-Greensburg freshman Turner Price was voted the AMCC tennis player and newcomer of the year.

Price, a Penn-Trafford graduate, played every match this season at No. 1 singles and doubles. He finished 11-3 (6-0 vs. AMCC opponents) at singles and earned straight-set victories in all but two matches in the spring season.

He and junior teammate Vaughn Hunkele were selected to the All-AMCC second team at No. 1 doubles.

“With all of the hard work Turner has put in this year, I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award. The year he had will have a major impact on our program for years to come,” UPG coach Doug Smeltzer said. “Turner and Vaughn have been the lifeblood of the team this year. They both have a way of elevating the players around them, and it’s great to see their work get rewarded.”

Price and Hunkele went 5-1 in AMCC play.
