Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi landed another verbal commitment Tuesday.

Defensive back Jesse Anderson announced his plans to enroll at Pitt next year in a unique manner. He wrote an article for USA Today Network.

Anderson (6-foot-1, 175 pounds) plays wide receiver and defensive back at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., but he will begin his Pitt career next year as a cornerback or safety. He joins Pitt players Vincent Davis, P.J. O’Brien and Marquis Williams, who also are products of Cardinal Gibbons.

Ranked a three-star recruit by Rivals.com and the 141st overall prospect in Florida by 247Sports, he has 16 scholarship offers, including from Pitt’s ACC rivals Boston College, Wake Forest and N.C. State, plus Colorado, Illinois, Indiana and Maryland.

He helped lead Cardinal Gibbons to its second consecutive state championship last year, catching 39 passes for 506 yards and four touchdowns for the season and intercepting a pass, recovering a fumble and totaling 28 tackles.

Anderson is the 14th member of the class of 2023 — all three stars — to reveal his verbal commitment to Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi. Five of the 14 play for Florida high schools.

Rivals.com ranks the Panthers’ class 25th in the nation.
