Pitt long snapper Cal Adomitis signs with Bengals
Former Pitt long snapper Cal Adomitis was recognized as college football’s consensus best at his position, and the Cincinnati Bengals took notice, signing the Central Catholic graduate to a free-agent contract after the draft.
Adomitis, who spent the past five seasons as Pitt’s starting long snapper, was so serious about perfecting his craft that he practiced in windy, rainy weather.

But he knows his journey is only beginning.
“It’s exciting,” he said last month while preparing for the draft. “But at the same time, keeping it in perspective. This is the start of the journey. The most important part is making that 53-man roster next fall. That’s just as much work as anything leading up to it.”
Invited to the NFL Combine, Adomitis ran the 40-yard dash in 4.97 seconds on a 6-foot-2, 235-pound frame. He also did 18 reps on the 225-pound bench press.
Adomitis also left his mark off the field, helping raise $121,000 for cancer programs at Children’s Hospital by allowing patients to cut off his beloved, flowing hair.
