The Pitt men’s soccer team was ousted from the NCAA Tournament on Saturday night after falling to No. 4-seeded Notre Dame in penalty kicks.

With the quarterfinal game tied 1-1 after regulation and overtime, the Fighting Irish (14-5-4) held a 4-2 edge in penalty kicks to decide the match.

No. 5 Pitt, a NCAA semifinalist team a year ago, fell just short of returning to the College Cup and finished its season at 13-5-2.

Freshman Guilherme Feitosa scored in the first half off an assist from Jasper Löeffelsend for the Panthers.

Notre Dame’s Paddy Burns headed in a cross in the 67th minute to tie the game.

Pitt keeper Nico Campuzano made four saves.
