Pitt men’s basketball announced the signing of guard Cashius McNeilly on June 10, 2022.

The Pitt men’s basketball program officially signed shooting guard Cashius McNeilly on Friday, adding a seventh new player to the Panthers’ roster.

McNeilly had committed to Texas A&M in 2019 and TCU before last season, but never played for those schools before enrolling at Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa. During the 2021-2022 season, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 10 points and 3.7 rebounds.

“Cashius is a talented guard who brings competitiveness, shooting and play making abilities to our backcourt rotation,” coach Jeff Capel said in a statement. “He has the size, strength and skill set to play multiple positions on the perimeter and can impact a game on both ends of the floor. The start of his college career was slowed by an injury and the pandemic, so I know he is eager to get back out on the floor and compete. We look forward to him joining our program this summer.”

At Northern Oklahoma, McNeilly played with 6-11 forward Fede Federiko, who committed to the Panthers in April. McNeilly also committed to Maryland earlier this year.

A native of Scarborough, Ontario, McNeilly has also been part of Team Canada’s youth program. He averaged 10.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists and shot 50% from three-point range in helping Canada to a bronze medal at the FIBA U17 World Cup in Argentina in 2018.
