Pitt, Penn State players selected for Walter Camp Preseason All-America teams
The Walter Camp Football Foundation released its preseason All-America teams Tuesday. Penn State’s Nick Singleton, Zane Durant and Olaivavega Ioane, along with Pitt’s Kyle Louis, were selected.
Singleton earned first-team offense honors at running back, while Durant made first-team defense as a defensive lineman. Louis joined Durant on first-team defense at linebacker, and Ioane was recognized as an offensive lineman on the second team.
Penn State tied for the most selections among schools with Alabama, Clemson, Indiana and Texas. They each had had three players named preseason All-Americans.
Ioane made the All-Big Ten second team, while Durant and Singleton were All-Big Ten honorable mentions last year. Singleton received honors as a running back and return specialist.
Among returning FBS players, Singleton is first with 2,912 career rushing yards, 32 career rushing touchdowns and 4,673 career all-purpose yards. All-time at Penn State, Singleton is fifth in rushing touchdowns, eighth in average (5.8), 10th in yards, 12th in attempts (499) and second in total touchdowns (41).
Last season, Durant ranked fourth among FBS defensive tackles (second in the Big Ten) with 11 tackles for loss, and his three sacks tied for first among Big Ten defensive tackles last year. He has made 64 tackles (35 solo), 17.5 tackles for loss, six sacks, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup in his career.
Ioane has appeared in 33 career games, starting 21 times. He helped Penn State average 3.81 tackles for loss and 1.25 sacks allowed per game, ninth and 23rd in the country, respectively.
Louis is one of the three linebackers in the nation on the All-America first team. In 2024, he led the Panthers in sacks, tackles for loss and interceptions and received multiple All-America and All-ACC awards. Louis is also Pitt’s first Walter Camp Preseason first team All-American since defensive tackle Calijah Kancey in 2022.
Sixteen players from the SEC made the teams, the most of any conference. The Big Ten was second with 15 players, and the ACC had nine players, good for the third-most. Eight conferences and 34 schools had players on the teams.
