Pitt and Austin Peay line up for the opening kickoff in the first quarter Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at Heinz Field.

They will be socially distanced and wearing masks, but football fans will be permitted inside Heinz Field when Pitt holds its Blue-Gold Spring Game at 1 p.m. April 24.

Pitt officials announced Thursday that, with expanded gathering limits in Pennsylvania, a maximum of 5,000 people will be seated in pods of two to six throughout the stadium’s lower bowl.

Admission is free and all tickets will be digital.

First priority will be given to Panther Club members (based on priority points), football season ticket holders and Pitt Varsity Letter Club members. People in those groups will receive a separate email with an exclusive promo code, and people can request a maximum of six tickets beginning Thursday.

The deadline for prioritized requests is 11:59 p.m. April 18. If seats still remain, general public requests will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 10 a.m. April 20.

The Pitt Team Store and concession stands will be open, and parking will be available for $10 in the Gold lots on the east side of Heinz Field.

The game was canceled last year because of the coronavirus.
