At the conclusion of its second June weekend of official visits, Pitt received verbal commitments Saturday from five rising seniors — players eager to lay out plans for the future before the start of their final high school season.

The first to make his non-binding commitment public was running back Montravius Lloyd from Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Fla. The other four players have yet to announce their commitments through social media.

Lloyd, who averaged 5.8 yards per carry as a junior in 2021, is the first running back in Pitt’s class of 2023. He is a three-star prospect according to Rivals.com.

Lloyd’s commitment lifted Pitt’s Rivals national recruiting ranking from 34th to 32nd (sixth in the ACC). There are nine players who have publicly committed to the Panthers, and all are ranked three-stars by Rivals.

The five commitments Saturday — combined with six coach Pat Narduzzi received in a 24-hour period two weeks ago and two others — will give Pitt 13 going into the final weekend of official visits, starting Friday.

Lloyd (6-foot, 205 pounds) chose Pitt over offers from 13 schools, including Arizona, Florida State, Wake Forest and West Virginia. He also has interest from Dartmouth of the Ivy League.
