Pitt received a verbal commitment from its second 2025 prospect Sunday when quarterback Mason Heintschel told coach Pat Narduzzi he plans to enroll next year.

Heintschel (6-foot-2, 200 pounds) amassed a total of 3,080 yards and 33 touchdowns as a junior last season at Clay High School in Oregon, Ohio.

With his senior season still five months away, he has scholarship offers from Akron, Coastal Carolina, Toledo, Ohio, Bowling Green, Eastern Kentucky, Liberty and Kent State, according to Rivals.com.

Heintschel joins defensive end Trevor Sommers of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., as the first two commits in Pitt’s class of 2025. They are both rated three-star prospects by Rivals.com.
