Wide receiver Zion Fowler of Jersey City, N.J., became the first high school prospect from the class of 2023 to make a verbal commitment to Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi when he announced Tuesday his plans to enroll.

Fowler (6-foot-1, 185 pounds) also holds scholarship offers from Virginia Tech and UMass. He has 18 receptions for 204 yards in the midst of his junior season at St. Peter’s Prep in Jersey City.

He is the second prospect in two days to declare for the No. 17 Panthers, joining linebacker Kyle Louis of East Orange, N.J.
