The return of face-to-face recruiting this month for the first time since the start of the covid-19 pandemic netted another promise for Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi. Defensive end Jimmy Scott pledged to enroll next year, making the announcement Monday on his Twitter account.

Scott (6-foot-3, 250 pounds) is ranked the No. 3 overall prospect in the state of New York and the No. 41 strong-side defensive end in the U.S. by Rivals.com. A rising senior and a three-star prospect at St. Francis High School in Athol Springs, N.Y., Scott is the only one of New York’s top five prospects to make a commitment.

Scott has an impressive list of schools that have offered scholarships, including Rutgers, Boston College, West Virginia, Michigan State, Arizona State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Duke, N.C. State, Syracuse and Texas A&M.

Narduzzi has received verbal commitments from at least two players who visited campus over the past weekend. Running back Jordaan Bailey of Tampa, Fla., committed Friday.

Overall, Pitt has six reported verbal commitments in its class of 2022, which is ranked 44th in the nation by Rivals.
