Pitt tight end Kaymar Mimes plays against Boston College on Oct. 10, 2020, in Boston.

Tight end Kaymar Mimes, who was approaching his fifth season in the Pitt program, has placed his name in the NCAA transfer portal.

Mimes, 6-foot-5, 260 pounds, has been a member of the team since 2018. He appeared in 24 games, mostly on special teams, with one reception for 4 yards.

Mimes, a native of Long Branch, N.J., was a defensive end in high school who also seriously considered Rutgers before signing with Pitt. His brother, Shilique Calhoun, played for Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi at Michigan State.

The departure of Mimes leaves Pitt with four scholarship tight ends, led by sophomore Gavin Bartholomew, who was named second-team Freshman All-American by The Athletic and Pro Football Network and honorable mention All-ACC last season. Backup tight ends include redshirt freshmen Jake Renda and Cole Mitchell and redshirt junior Kyi Wright.
