Pitt to celebrate anniversary of Jerome Lane's famous dunk
Pitt will celebrate one of the most memorable highlights in college basketball history Jan. 25 as the Panthers host Wake Forest at the Petersen Events Center.
“Send it in, Jerome!” night will celebrate the 35th anniversary of Jerome Lane’s backboard-shattering dunk from Jan. 24, 1987, against Providence.

The celebration takes its name from legendary basketball broadcaster Bill Raftery’s call of the play during the ESPN telecast from Fitzgerald Field House.
Lane, a two-time All-America selection and a 2022 Pitt Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, will be on hand to sign autographs at the Pitt Shop in the Thomas E. Richards Family Lobby at the Petersen Events Center from 6-6:45 p.m. and also will be recognized on the court during the game.
The first 1,500 fans will receive a voucher for a “Send it in, Jerome!” pint glass with a shattered-glass design.
Also, the first 1,000 students in the Oakland Zoo will receive Jerome Lane jersey shirts.
Pint glass distribution will be at Concourse A and the Richards Family Lobby as fans exit the arena after the game.
Tickets for “Send it in, Jerome!” night are available here.
Pitt, currently 11-6 overall and 4-2 in the ACC, will face road games against Georgia Tech on Saturday and Louisville on Wednesday.
