Pitt volleyball coach Dan Fisher signs 7-year contract through 2026
With three consecutive ACC championships in his recent past, Pitt women’s volleyball coach Dan Fisher has signed a seven-year contract that runs through the 2026 season.
Fisher compiled a record of 178-49 in seven years at Pitt, including 106-29 in the ACC and league titles in 2017, ‘18 and ‘19. Pitt has won at least 19 games in each season.
“It is with genuine enthusiasm that we reaffirm our long-term commitment to coach Dan Fisher,” athletic director Heather Lyke said in a statement. “Our volleyball program has become a model for all of our teams and represents our department-wide goal of comprehensive excellence.
“Most importantly, our student-athletes are having a remarkable experience. They have developed a sincere and passionate fan base and have connected with the Pittsburgh community. They have won three consecutive ACC championships and have done it with integrity both athletically and academically.
“Under coach Fisher’s leadership, he and his staff have built Pitt into an elite volleyball program and we are pleased to reaffirm our commitment to Dan and investment in our volleyball program. I am confident in coach Fisher’s vision and excited to see us build upon this foundation of success.”
Fisher’s 253 career victories, including two seasons at Concordia, make him the winningest active Division I women’s volleyball coach with nine or fewer seasons. He ranks fifth out of 335 active Division I women’s volleyball head coaches with a career winning percentage of .832 (253-51).
He led Pitt to a No. 2 ranking by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in 2019 while the team earned its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth, the longest postseason streak since the early 1990s.
“I am grateful to Chancellor Patrick Gallagher and Heather Lyke for their enduring support and investment in the future of the volleyball program,” Fisher said. “I’m honored to lead this team, as Pittsburgh has become a home to me. We have built something special over the last seven years, and we will continue our pursuit of excellence.”
