Pitt volleyball’s historic season reached another milestone moment Wednesday when two players were named to the All-America second team for the first time in program history.

Senior outside hitter Kayla Lund was named to the All-America second team for the second straight season and became the first player in Pitt history to receive the honor twice in a collegiate career. She was joined on the All-America second team by senior right-side hitter Chinaza Ndee, who earned her first selection after earning an honorable mention nod in 2019.

Both Lund and Ndee join Ann Marie Lucanie (1993) as the only players in program history to be land on the All-America second team.

Sophomore middle blocker Chiamaka Nwokolo was named as an All-America honorable mention, as well.

As a part of Pitt’s 19-5 season and ensuing run to the NCAA regional final, Lund became the seventh player in program history to record more than 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in her career. She also led the Panthers in points per set (4.42), kills per set (3.74), digs per set (2.95) and service aces per set (0.41). She also tallied three matches with 20 or more kills and led the ACC in total points (389), total kills (329) and total attacks (805).

Ndee was right behind Lund in most categories as she was second on the team in points per set (3.95), kills per set (3.38) and blocks per set (0.94). She also recorded a season-high 21 kills against Syracuse on Sept. 25. She was named ACC Player of the Week once.

Nwokolo ranked fourth in the ACC in hitting percentage (.411). She also was third on the team in blocks per set (0.88) and fourth in kills per set (1.73). Nwokolo turned in one of the best games of her career against No. 5 Notre Dame when she tallied a career-high eight blocks.
