Conference realignment killed many of the most storied rivalries in college football, but West Virginia and Pitt are scheduled to meet eight times over the next 11 seasons, starting Sept. 1 at Heinz Field.

To commemorate the occasion, the schools put their heads together to create the official Backyard Brawl logo, released Thursday — 105 days before the 105th edition of the football rivalry. The game will be the first between the schools since 2011 and will be the season opener for both teams.

The logo features different variations that can include both teams, a football-only version, a school-specific logo and an option that can highlight a game sponsor. Fans will be able to purchase special merchandise, beginning in August, featuring the new logo. Apparel also will be available in future years.

Pitt leads the series 61-40-3, but West Virginia has won 16 of the past 26 games, including a 21-20 victory in the most recent renewal in Morgantown, W.Va. The teams met every season from 1943-2011, and WVU will take a three-game winning streak into the Sept. 1 contest.

The eight games are scheduled as follows:

Sept. 1, 2022, at Pitt

Sept. 16, 2023, at West Virginia

Sept. 14, 2024, at Pitt

Sept. 13, 2025, at West Virginia

Sept. 8, 2029, at Pitt

Sept. 7, 2030, at West Virginia

Sept. 6, 2031, at Pitt

Sept. 11, 2032, at West Virginia
