Pitt will play seven of its 12 regular-season games at Acrisure Stadium in 2024, including an Oct. 12 date with California, one of three new ACC member schools. Pitt and Cal haven’t met on the football field since a 30-15 Golden Bears victory in 1966.
Two other highlights of Pitt’s home schedule will be the 107th renewal of the Backyard Brawl against West Virginia on Sept. 14 and a game vs. Clemson on Nov. 16.
The most recent West Virginia/Pitt game at Acrisure two years ago attracted 70,622, an all-time record for a Pittsburgh sporting event. Since joining the ACC, Pitt is 2-2 against national powerhouse Clemson.
Also, Pitt will tangle with Syracuse on a prime-time nationally televised Thursday night game Oct. 24. The teams have met every year since 1955.

An interesting and perhaps welcomed quirk in the schedule will have the Panthers playing all but two games at home from Sept. 14 through Nov. 16. In that span, there are two off weeks Sept. 28 and Oct. 19, and the only games away from Acrisure are scheduled for Oct. 5 at North Carolina and Nov. 2 at SMU, another of the first-year ACC schools.
Neither of the Florida schools — defending ACC champion Florida State or Miami — are on Pitt’s schedule. Pitt also will not travel to the West Coast this season. Only six ACC schools are making that trip. Stanford, the other California school joining the ACC this year, does not appear on Pitt’s schedule.
Pitt will play all four of its nonconference games in the first four weeks of the season, starting with the opener at home against Kent State on Aug. 31. That will be followed by a game at Cincinnati on Sept. 7, against West Virginia on Sept. 14 and Youngstown State on Sept. 21, both at home.
After the SMU trip Nov. 2, Pitt will host Virginia and Clemson on Nov. 9 and 16. The season concludes with the Panthers visiting Louisville and Boston College on Nov. 23 and 30.
