Pitt's Jeff Capel, Blake Hinson make opposing predictions on national title game outcome
Pitt coach Jeff Capel might not give all his attention to the TV screen Monday night during the college football national championship game between Michigan and Washington. After all, Capel has a game of his own to think about, with No. 11 Duke visiting Petersen Events Center on Tuesday.
But that didn’t stop Capel from having an opinion on the outcome of the football game.
“I think Michigan (will win), but, man, that (Washington) quarterback (Michael Penix Jr.) is good,” Capel said when asked by a reporter to make a prediction.
“I think this is destiny for Michigan. I do. With all the stuff they went through and the fact they continued to win and persevere and stayed together. I think they’ll win and we’ll see (Michigan coach Jim) Harbaugh in the NFL next year.”
Pitt senior forward Blake Hinson, a native of Deltona, Fla., offered an opposing prediction.
“Washington, Penix,” he said of the Tampa, Fla., native. “Florida boy, so I’m going with him.”
