Pittsburgh City United FC blanked Athletic United FC, 6-0, on Sunday to move into first place in the United Premier Soccer League’s Northeast Conference-Beltway, North Premier Division.

Pittsburgh City United is now 5-1 at the midway point of the season, with 15 points, two points ahead of FC Inter Atlantic, which Pittsburgh City United will host Saturday at No Offseason Sports in Russellton.

The local team was led against Athletic United by Ndayisenga Emmanuel (1 goal, 1 assist), Ramesses McGuinness (1 goal, 2 assists) and Marquis Flowers (1 goal, 1 assist). Emilio Maldonado, Matt Teitelbaum and Ibrahim Kouyate also scored for Pittsburgh City United.

“We were strong in many areas of the pitch today, especially on defense with our backline coverage and ball movement,” team owner/coach Michael Anton Monsur said. “Offensively, we continue to improve the quality of our chances around the box. I could not be more honored to have the opportunity to share the pitch every day with this incredible group of individuals. With all the adversity we continue to face, to be in this position halfway through the season in such a competitive division is quite remarkable.”

UPSL is a semi-professional development soccer league sanctioned through United States Adult Soccer Association.
