The Pittsburgh Riverhounds continued to struggle on the road Saturday night, losing 3-0 to the Charleston Battery.

The Riverhounds are 0-5-1 in their last six road matches in all competitions. In the USL Championship Eastern Conference standings, they’re 7-4-3, good for fifth place. It was the second win of the season for Charleston (2-9-2).

It was clear in the opening moments of the game that this wouldn’t be the Riverhounds’ night.

In the second minute, Kenardo Forbes turned a ball over in the defensive third. Augustine Williams picked it up and buried it from the top of the box to give Charleston a 1-0 edge.

In the 39th minute, Andrew Booth flicked in a header from the near post off a Romario Piggott corner kick to make it 2-0.

Just before halftime, Booth sprung Pickett with a pass in the middle of the field and he scored to make it 3-0.

The Riverhounds will be on the road again next Saturday, visiting the Rio Grande Valley Toros for the first time at 8:30 p.m.
