Rob Vincent stepped in as the Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ acting head coach with two months remaining in the 2025 season.
After leading the club to the USL Championship title, he will maintain the role of head coach for the upcoming 2026 campaign.
The Riverhounds announced Friday that Vincent has been named the team’s head coach.
“It has been a privilege watching Rob lead the team over the last seven weeks of our season,” Hounds sporting director Dan Visser said in a statement. “He’s an outstanding young coach and quickly earned the confidence of players, fans and the entire Riverhounds organization. I couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead with Rob at the helm in 2026 and beyond.”
Vincent, 35, was named acting head coach Oct. 10 after the team placed head coach Bob Lilley on administrative leave. He led the team to a 3-0-4 record and a run through the USL Championship playoffs.
“I am delighted and honored to be named head coach of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds,” Vincent said. “I want to thank Tuffy (Shallenberger, Hounds owner) and Dan for placing their trust in me to lead the club forward and build on our 2025 Championship winning season.”
Vincent has been part of the Hounds’ organization since 2018, after he retired from his professional playing career that began in Pittsburgh and later led him to MLS club DC United. He coached in the Hounds Academy for six years and earned his USSF A-Senior Coaching License. He was named a Hounds assistant coach in 2024.
In almost eight seasons, Lilley led the Riverhounds to a 128-64-74 record, making the playoffs in seven straight years. With a career record of 415-205-196 over 25 seasons with six teams, he is the winningest active coach in American pro soccer.
