Black & Gold breakfast: Where early risers in Pittsburgh can watch the Steelers in Dublin
Pittsburghers are invading the Emerald Isle for this Sunday’s Steelers game against the Minnesota Vikings in Dublin.
With an early kickoff at 9:30 a.m., Steelers fans stuck back in Pennsylvania might be wondering where they can watch the game — and still experience some Irish cheer.
Here are some of the watch parties happening in the Southwestern Pennsylvania region this Sunday:
Black & Gold Dublin Watch Party on Sixth Street
From 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Pittsburgh Steelers fans can gather over Sixth Street in Downtown Pittsburgh for a live broadcast of the game.
The game can be viewed on a large outdoor screen, along with live music and entertainment from The Low Kings from 7:30-9:30 a.m. and after the game.
Games will include a Paper Football Tournament, Can Stacking Challenge, Hot Potato and Empty Can Relay. Prizes will be gift cards to Sixth Street merchants and VIP seating front and center for the game. There is a Google Form to sign up to play the games.
Additionally, there will be gameday specials from Sixth Street merchants, such as Irish breakfast specials, promotions and themed food and drinks.
Presented by Miller Lite, the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership and Sixth Street businesses, admission is free and open to the public — with no RSVP necessary, according to the Eventbrite page.
Pittsburgh Brewing Company’s headquarters in East Deer
With doors opening at 7 a.m. Sunday, Steelers fans will be able to enjoy a watch party with “Kegs & Eggs,” live music and activities at Pittsburgh Brewing Company in East Deer.
All ages are welcome, the brewing company said, and there are two ticket options: general admission and VIP. The brewing company is located at 150 Ferry St., Creighton.
General admission for $12.20 each includes entry beginning at 7 a.m. for food trucks, live entertainment and outdoor viewing on the big screen, taproom access beginning at 8:30 a.m. and one complimentary beer per guest.
VIP tickets for $30 (not including fees) offer exclusive early entry at 7 a.m. with first access to the taproom and best seats in front of the giant TV, a full breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries and pancakes, and one complimentary drink per guest (beer, Bloody Mary or Tequila Sunrise — while supplies last).
As of Tuesday, the VIP tickets aren’t available for purchase on the ticketing site.
The brewing company said it will have limited-release pilot brews on tap, as well as iconic favorites.
Entertainment and activities include the following:
- Halftime show with country music artist Chris Higbee
- Comedy by Matt Light
- DJs and live music throughout the day
- Food and coffee trucks, yard games, tattoos and event shirt sales
- Penn State THON on-site
- Additional food trucks and activities to be announced
- More music, food and drinks after the game until 4 p.m.
Primanti Bros. restaurants across the region
It wouldn’t be Pittsburgh without Primanti’s, obviously.
The iconic sandwich chain said it’s opening some locations across Pennsylvania starting at 9 a.m., including Allison Park, Altoona, Center Township, Cranberry, Erie, Greensburg, Grove City, Harmar, McIntyre Square, Mt. Lebanon, Monroeville, Moon Township, North Versailles, Oakland, Pleasant Hills, Robinson, South Fayette, South Side, Washington, Waterfront and York.
Happy hour will run from 9 a.m. to noon at those locations, offering drinks at half the regular price.
Bakery Square’s big screen
From 8:30 a.m. to noon Sunday, Bakery Square in the city’s East End is hosting a watch party on its big screen, according to its event page online.
There will be custom complimentary rally towels while supplies last, a “Kiss Me I’m From Pittsburgh” photo booth, a 3D Steelers Chalk Art photo op by @thechalkingdad, themed Airbrush face paint, themed balloon art and football bingo.
Sweet and savory pastries, along with mimosas, green beer and Guinness cans will be available for purchase at City Kitchen from 9-11 a.m.
Entertainment will include a halftime performance from the Bell School of Irish Dance and a leprechaun visit from 10:30-11:30 a.m.
And contests will include:
- Pots of Gold Contests
- Kids Outfit Contest (ages 0-12) - winner gets a full basket of Steelers x Dublin Merchandise
- Score Predictor Contest (21+) - winner gets a full basket of Steelers x Dublin Merchandise, including a bottle of limited edition 50th Anniversary Steelers Select Dubliner Irish Whiskey
Southern Tier Brewing Company on the North Shore
Pittsburgh’s North Shore will be celebrating the Black and Gold in Dublin as well.
Located at 316 N. Shore Drive, Southern Tier Brewing Company will be open for business starting at 9 a.m., according to its Facebook post.
The game will be shown on the TVs, and there will be Irish brunch features, including:
- Boxty (served with a choice of bacon or banger sausage and grilled tomato)
- Corned beef hash (peppers and onions)
- House breakfast (two eggs, baked beans, grilled tomato and a choice of bacon or banger sausage)
And after the game, fans can stick around for a vendor market with The Pittsburgh Creative starting at 11 a.m., according to the post.
Local Remedy Brewing in Oakmont
“Kegs and eggs” will also be available at Local Remedy Brewing at 531 Allegheny Ave. in Oakmont.
According to its Instagram post, the brewing company will be open at 8:30 a.m. Sunday.
“Enjoy breakfast and a pint then stay for the game!” the post reads.
The Eventbrite ticketing link says there will be a breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage and breakfast potatoes. Tickets are $23.18.
Included in the ticket price is a full draft pour, Local Remedy Brewing said.
Pub in the Park in Swissvale
Starting at 9 a.m. Sunday, The Pub in the Park in Swissvale will be open for business, according to its Facebook page.
The sports bar, located at 7034 Blackhawk St., will have Irish Car Bombs available at 9 a.m. before the 9:30 kickoff.
Bottomless mimosas will be available from 9 a.m. to noon, and breakfast “sammies” will be available from 9-11 a.m.
Invisible Man Brewing in Greensburg
At 112 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Invisible Man Brewing will be open for business Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
According to a Facebook post, there will also be a brunch buffet there from Greensburg-based 3 Stone Merchant.
On Reddit, Pittsburghers have been discussing potential locations to watch the early morning game — under the thread “Brunch and Steelers this Sunday?”
Other recommendations for places can be found in that thread. Some tickets are already sold out for various events.
