Playoffs set for Western Pennsylvania Summer Baseball League

The inaugural Western Pennsylvania Summer Baseball League, an offshoot of a WPIAL season that never happened because of the coronavirus outbreak, announced its playoff pairings.

The single-elimination tournament has 24 teams and opening-round games begin Monday.

The semifinals are set for Aug. 1 at Boyce-Mayview Park in Upper St. Clair.

The championship will be Aug. 3 at Wild Things Park in Washington.

Here is the schedule:

Preliminary round

Frazier vs. South Park, TBD (Winner plays Mt. Lebanon)

Monday

Central Catholic vs. Washington, 4:30 p.m. at Boyce-Mayview Park (Winner plays Elizabeth Forward)

Kiski Area vs. Seneca Valley, 6 p.m. at Kiski Area High School (Winner plays Belle Vernon)

Waynesburg vs. Baldwin, 7p.m. at DiVirgilio Field (Winner plays Ingomar (NA))

Bethel Park vs. Highlands, 7 p.m. at Boyce-Mayview Park (Winner plays Thomas Jefferson)

Tuesday

Jeannette vs. Franklin Regional, 5:30 p.m. at Haymaker Park, Murrysville (Winner plays Mon-City)

Irwin vs. Upper St. Clair, 7 p.m. at Boyce-Mayview Park (Winner plays Plum)

Monroeville vs. Kittanning-Worthington, 7 p.m. at Gateway High School (Winner plays Laurel Highlands)
